Online KMS — Activate via a Public KMS Server (2026)

Last updated · Reviewed by KMSAuto.software editorial team

Online KMS uses a list of public KMS servers (kms.digiboy.ir, kms8.msguides.com and others) to issue a real 180-day activation. No local KMS service install, no permanent license — just a quick volume activation that renews itself every 7 days while online. Bundled free inside KMSAuto.software 2026 — for permanent activation, use HWID or TSforge instead.

When to use Online KMS

  • You only need temporary activation (test VM, demo build)
  • Your edition does not support HWID (Enterprise / LTSC / Server)
  • Your network blocks KMS port 1688 to local servers
  • You want zero traces — no local KMS service installed

Editions supported

  • Every Windows volume edition (Pro, Enterprise, Education, LTSC, IoT)
  • Windows Server 2025 / 2022 / 2019 / 2016 / 2012 R2
  • Office 2024 / 2021 / 2019 / 2016 Volume License (for subscription Office use Ohook)
  • NOT Windows Home (no volume key) — use HWID for Home

How to activate online

  • Connect to the internet (Online KMS requires it, every time)
  • Extract KMSAuto.software with password
  • Right-click KMSAuto.exe → Run as administrator
  • Open Method → select Online KMS
  • Click the green Activate button — the tool will cycle through public servers automatically
  • Wait for 'Activation successful' (180 days)

How Online KMS keeps you activated

Windows asks its KMS server for renewal every 7 days. As long as the public server is reachable, your license stays valid indefinitely. If every server in the list is offline at renewal time, you have up to 180 days of grace — re-run Online KMS once before then and you reset the clock to 180 days again.

Online KMS vs HWID vs TSforge

  • Online KMS — temporary, every edition, requires internet weekly
  • HWID — permanent, client editions only, requires internet once
  • TSforge — permanent, every edition, fully offline (preferred for LTSC/Server)

Frequently asked questions

What is Online KMS activation?

Online KMS connects your machine to a public KMS (Key Management Service) server on the internet and requests a real 180-day Microsoft volume-license activation. No local KMS service is installed on your PC.

Is Online KMS permanent?

No — KMS activation lasts 180 days and renews itself every 7 days while the machine can reach the KMS server. For permanent activation use HWID for Windows Home/Pro or TSforge for Enterprise/LTSC.

Do I need internet for Online KMS?

Yes — every time. Online KMS requires an internet connection both for initial activation and for the 7-day renewal cycle. If you need an offline solution, use TSforge or Ohook.

Which editions does Online KMS activate?

Every Windows volume edition (Pro, Enterprise, Education, LTSC, IoT), Windows Server 2025 / 2022 / 2019 / 2016 / 2012 R2, and Office 2024 / 2021 / 2019 / 2016 Volume License. It does NOT activate Windows Home (no volume key) — use HWID instead.

Is Online KMS safe?

Yes. The KMS protocol is a documented Microsoft technology used internally by enterprises. KMSAuto.software routes traffic through trusted public servers (kms.digiboy.ir, kms8.msguides.com and others) and does not install any service on your PC.

What happens if the KMS server goes offline?

Windows has a 180-day grace period after the last successful renewal. If every server in the list is offline at renewal time, you have up to 180 days to re-run Online KMS and reset the clock back to 180 days.

Online KMS vs HWID — which should I use?

Use HWID for Windows 11 / 10 Home and Pro — it gives a permanent digital license. Use Online KMS for temporary activations, test VMs, demo builds, or editions HWID does not cover (Enterprise, LTSC, Server).

Online KMS vs TSforge?

TSforge is permanent and offline; Online KMS is temporary (180 days) and online. TSforge is preferred for production LTSC/Server. Use Online KMS only when you need a quick activation without modifying the licensing store.

Does Online KMS leave traces on my PC?

Almost none. No local KMS service is installed and no scheduled task is created beyond the standard Windows sppsvc.exe renewal task that exists on every Windows install.

Can I switch from Online KMS to HWID later?

Yes. Run HWID at any time — it overwrites the temporary KMS lease with a permanent digital license. Your machine seamlessly upgrades from a 180-day lease to a forever license.
